The 36-hectare garden Exhibition Centre was opened in 1961 as IGA. It lies in the west of the city of Erfurt on the 265-meter-high former grounds of the fortress Cyriaksburg. Since 1992, the site is a listed building. But since 1885, was created as a green area and is constantly expanding.

The ega had long a very nice playground for families. The since May 2016 new mud playground as an extension of the large playing area is well worth a day trip and dance can replace a visit to the pool completely. In addition to the mud square with many wooden play area, there is a shallow water pool with a slide.
Dahlia show in September
The dahlias we could already admire. However, most were not in full bloom. Therefore one must visit in September to egapark.

In tropical house a Central American tropical world with pyramids of the Mayan culture is recreated on 600 square meters. Here you can discover the wildlife of the tropics in addition to tropical plants.
Bundesgartenschau 2021
In 2021 there will be in Erfurt and in particular on the grounds of ega a Bundesgartenschau. There is even a cable car from downtown to the grounds of ega talking.
